CURRICULUM
NURSERY DEPARTMENT

Language – Children are taught to recognize and master phonic sounds,   resulting in early reading by age 5.
Number Work – Use of Montessori equipment to help children acquire, understand and appreciate various concepts in Mathematics.

Practical Life – This makes use of everyday activities to prepare children for reading and writing. It also makes them very independent and assertive.

Sensorial – This is made up of activities aimed at sharpening all the five senses of the children and thereby making them very much aware of the world around them.

Cultural Subjects – These are made up of Environmental Studies, Science and Nature, Religious and Moral Education, Art and Creativity, Computer      Science etc.

SUBJECTS IN JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOL

Mathematics
The course covers the basic concepts in arithmetic, algebra, geometry, set  theory, graphs, and probability. It aims at helping pupils to acquire these concepts, the basic skills in handling them and their application in practical tasks and real life problems, and to investigate mathematics itself in order to make predictions.

Computer Science (ICT)
The aim of this course is to make all pupils computer literate. Basic keyboard skills and application software such as Word, Excel, Power point etc. are taught in conjunction with Computers 4 Kids software from South Africa. This software has a lot of the content of the school’s curriculum so it serves a dual purpose of imparting knowledge in computer skills and presenting the curriculum in an interesting and fun way.

Languages
Languages taught are Twi, GA, English, and French. Grammar, Comprehension, Literature and Poetry among others are given thorough attention. Both written and oral works are stressed and assessment is based on these two  aspects.

Integrated Science
Aspects of Chemistry, Biology and Physics are covered. Both theory and   practical aspects are taught. This is aimed at equipping pupils with the basic knowledge in general and applied sciences and explanations to everyday   happenings.

Agricultural Science
Agricultural Science deals mainly with crop and animal husbandry. It also aims at introducing pupils to the subject as a vocation.

BASIC DESIGN AND TECHNOLOGY
Under this programme is a combination of Pre-Technical skills and Pre-Vocational skills.

  • The Pre-Technical skills aspect offers the opportunity to pupils to acquire skills in handy work and to solve some basic everyday problems. They are taught to identify needs and design equipment or materials to resolve these needs. It encourages creativity,       curiosity and the need to explore.
  • Pre-Vocational Skills (Catering) aspect aims at imparting the professional skill of food preparation and   service to the pupils. It brings out their creative ability to experiment with local and foreign food items to bring about exciting new dishes.

Social Studies
Social Studies comprises aspects of Geography, History, Economics, R.M.E and Civic Education. It aims at broadening pupils’ outlook about the world.

Music
All pupils are expected to learn how to read musical notes and play the keyboard. They are also encouraged to learn how to play an additional musical instruments. Pupils have a broad range of instruments to choose from.
